Man charged and released

A 65-year-old Seymour man was jailed Monday morning after allegedly pulling a weapon on a county highway crew about to work on a ditch near his home.

“We had cleaned ditches out there about a week or two ago, and they went back Monday to straighten out a piece,” county highway superintendent Warren Martin said of the incident that led to the arrest of Wayne B. Sherrill.

Martin said Sherrill, who lives in the 12000 block of East 900 North, told the county workers they would not be doing any work there before walking back into his house.
